Bringing Back the Basket

As we celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend, we’re reminded once again that “every good and perfect gift comes from above” (James 1:17). Gratitude naturally overflows into generosity — and generosity is one of the beautiful marks of a healthy, Spirit-filled church.

Starting this Sunday, our newly re-formed Ushers Team will begin taking up a physical offering during our worship service, in addition to our usual online giving options.

Why bring back a physical offering?

For many, this simple act is a meaningful moment of worship — a tangible reminder that our giving is not merely a transaction, but an offering to the Lord. While online giving remains a convenient and consistent way to support the ministry, giving in person helps us:

  • Teach and model stewardship – everything we have ultimately belongs to God (Psalm 24:1).

  • Encourage generosity and consistency – our giving shapes our hearts and habits (2 Corinthians 9:6–8).

  • Support the mission and ministry of our church — helping us serve, reach, and bless others (Philippians 4:15–19).

  • Involve the next generation – children and youth can see giving as part of worship, not just something adults do online.

In addition to the standard envelopes, we also have some
“I gave online” cards printed
for anyone who wishes to give online and put something into the offering basket.

You’re welcome to give whichever way works best for you — whether that’s in person during the service, online through our website, or by e-transfer. The important thing is that we continue to grow together in gratitude, faith, and generosity.

Please understand that this is not a response to a new deficit or need, but to ensure all options are available to attendees including casual and responsive giving. For your information, it is still actually more helpful for our finance team if members give online, however, we want to cover all bases and remove any barriers to giving.

Thank you for your faithful support and for the way you continue to invest in what God is doing through LCA.
