Mission’s Focus – Our Christmas Giving Project

Yemen

Yemen is the third most dangerous country in the world for Christians. Of 40 million people, only a few thousand follow Jesus, and 99% have never heard the truth about Him. Believers must meet secretly. They risk violence, detention, and even death.

Yemen is suffering a severe humanitarian crisis. Years of civil war, economic collapse, floods, and droughts have left 21.7 million people (52% of the population) severely food insecure, with 6.3 million at risk of starvation. Christians often struggle to access aid, compounding their hardships.

We are involved in Yemen! ERDO, PAOC’s humanitarian arm, provides food aid, implements development projects, and supports peace-building initiatives.

Pray for Yemen:

  • For peace and justice
  • For strength for the underground church
  • For Jesus to reveal Himself through dreams and visions
  • For God to multiply ERDO’s impact

This year’s Christmas Giving Project will support the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada’s (PAOC) ERDO appeal (Emergency Relief and Development Overseas) https://erdo.ca/about-us/get-to-know-us/ .

Overview:

ERDO presents a catalogue of relief and development projects as “Christmas gifts.” One project in particular – food relief in Yemen – caught our eye.

Years of conflict have left millions in Yemen without enough to eat. Our gifts can provide emergency food supplies to families facing starvation. Each food basket helps a family stay nourished for six months, along with lifesaving health and safety information to protect them in crisis zones.

It’s $40 per basket, matched 4:1 by the Canadian government.

Here’s why we like it:

  • Providing food runs parallel to previous local food projects LCA has supported in the past.
  • The 4:1 matching multiplies the impact.
  • It’s an opportunity to sensitize the congregation to a people group without access to the gospel, and perhaps to spark some ongoing prayer for Yemen.

Please consider giving to this need by marking the words: “Christmas Project” on your envelopes, e-transfers, and other online giving.
